Information Required for the Czech Republic Digital Nomad Visa
The Czech Republic has recently introduced its new digital nomad visa that offers an accelerated route to a long-term stay. The aim behind the launch is to address the country’s shortage of highly qualified IT professionals and give a boost to its economy. If you want to obtain the Czech Republic digital nomad visa, you can either be employed by a foreign company that allows you to work remotely, or you can work as a freelancer and be self-employed.
Freelancers, who would like to get this type of visa, will need to apply for a Czech business license that allows them to provide their services to companies located in the Czech Republic on a contract basis.
Visa Cost of Digital Nomad Visa
Talking about the cost of a visa, it is CZK 2,500 (€104 approx.) and this visa will initially last for one year. After this period (one year), applicants will have to apply for a residence permit that grants a further two years and provides complete an adaptation-integration course. As for the processing of this visa, the visa applications are processed within 45 days. Besides, if your stay lasts in the country for more than 183 days in a one-year period, you will then be considered a Czech tax resident. On the other hand, if you are also a tax resident in your home country, the amount of tax you pay will depend on your country’s double taxation rules.
Prior to the launch of the Czech Republic digital nomad visa, the one-year ‘zivno’ business visa was the best option for self-employed foreigners in the Czech Republic. However, there were requirements to follow to obtain it like the visa required applicants to get a trade license and have 124,500 CZK (€5,160 approx.) in their bank account.
Are you Eligible to Apply for the Czech Republic Digital Nomad Visa?
Since it was earlier mentioned that the digital nomad visa of the Czech Republic is only available to eight nationalities initially, nonetheless there are requirements to be met to obtain it.
Applicants, who would like to apply for this visa, should possess a university degree or higher in the fields of technology science, engineering or mathematics or 3 years of work experience in information technology industry.
There are income requirements as well such as remote workers employed by a company located abroad (foreign company) need to meet the minimum requirements of CZK 60,530 (€2,507 approx.) per month. The company has to have minimum 50 employees as well.
Are Dependents Allowed?
Registered partners, spouses, and minor plus dependent kids of any nationality can obtain a residence permit also when they apply with a qualifying digital nomad visa applicant.
